Good news vapers, we are back in the fight.
After August 8th, when the FDA's deeming regulations came into effect, the industry looked bleak for many shop owners and vapers alike. We at ShopMVG have always held an optimistic point of view, with the understanding that there are many good people out there 'fighting the good fight'.
Two congressmen, Reps. Tom Cole (R-OK) and Sanford Bishop (D-GA), have introduced a new bill, HR1136, to help change the predicate "grandfather" date from February 15, 2007 to August 8, 2016. While this bill will not change the FDA's authority for pre-approval of products introduced after the grandfather date, it will allow current products to stay on the market without spending upwards of a million dollars to obtain marketing approval. Existing products, however, will still have to meet safety and marketing standards set by the FDA; many of which, are already part of the deeming regulations or are slight modifications.
As this story continues to evolve, we will keep our eyes open for any red flags, but this is a good compromise and step in the right direction. We should all be optimistic.
